Who We Are

George von Klan

George von Klan founded GVK-ECS in 2007.  He has 30 years experience in the elevator industry, including 10 years as Vice President with Edgett Williams Consulting Group, where he had full design and project management responsibility for approximately 200 new and existing vertical transportation projects. Prior to that, von Klan worked on the staff of the CEO of Otis Elevator Company, where he was responsible for the world’s largest vertical transportation projects and global product strategies for all building, equipment, and component types. Prior to that, Von Klan was Otis general manager in San Francisco and San Jose, where he supervised all new construction, modernization and service operations. Von Klan helped develop the Otis Maintenance Management System, which is still in use by Otis today. He attended Union College in New York, and received his MBA from Stanford University. Von Klan is recognized as an elevator industry leader in the areas of modernization, destination dispatch, energy savings, and machine room-less elevators. Von Klan has received an award from the San Francisco Mayor’s Office on Disability for working to improve accessibility of destination dispatch elevators. He is a Steering Group member and former Executive Committee member of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat at Illinois Institute of Technology.    

Keven Kwok

Keven Kwok joined GVK in 2014. His experience in the elevator industry began in 2008 with Otis Elevator Company in San Francisco. Kwok has worked closely with architects, engineers, general contractors and subcontractors in areas of equipment layout, architectural and structural requirements, electrical, mechanical and life safety interfaces, scheduling, and installation processes. While at Otis he was responsible for New Equipment sales and project management. Kwok is a LEED Accredited Professional and a certified Project Management Professional. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from University of California, Berkeley.

Robert Boardman

Robert Boardman joined GVK in 2017. His elevator career began in 1984 as an installer with an independent commercial/residential company in Southern California. He relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1995 with a more extensive role with ACME Home Elevator, Inc.  After 15 years with ACME, Robert opened a Northern California office with TL Shield/Modular Elevator Mfg. as Regional Manager.  Robert has also served a Project Manager of Modernizations for KONE, Inc. & most recently, Lead Superintendent for Modernizations for ThyssenKrupp Elevator, Inc.  Boardman’s background in construction, management, sales, service, modernization engineering, project management and quality assurance has enabled him to work closely with building owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, and subcontractors in the coordination, installation, and modernization of vertical transportation systems. He has also served on the ASME A18 code committee, member of the NAEC and also holds mechanics’ licenses with the state of CA (CCCM) and Nevada.
